Australind SHS $15 Million Building Program commencing mid-2021 and due for completion at the end of 2022: We have been fortunate that our School Board in particular Mrs Julie Beelitz (Board Chair) and Ms Lyn Bluet have been advocating for our school and have worked successfully with the State Government to access this funding for us. We are most grateful for their hard work in this space and are pleased to announce that these works will be scheduled to commence shortly.
This plan includes the following;
- The move of the Dental Clinic onto the Australind PS site;
- The provisional relocation of the transportable buildings from around the top courts near Australind PS down to the oval area between the lower courts and the terraced grass area;
- The relocation and replacement of a Physical Education green shed
- A provisional service road for access via the Australind PS oval;
- Additional car parking bays at the rear of the school;
- Double storey classroom block that will provide for an Art Studio, Science Laboratories, STEM Laboratory, a Life Skills Area, Student and Staff toilets, plus 10 additional general classrooms, with a lift and 400m2 undercover area;
- Remodelling of our current student wellbeing area will also occur to make the area look and feel newer while adding some much needed office and interview spaces for student and parent supports.
- Addition of an up to date welding bay and metal fabrication area which is still under consultation.
Other works on our site include a combined Arts Learning Area Office, Headwall and Fence at the front of the school, and a student recreation area that will flow out from our library and onto a recently prepared grassed area for our students. I wish to acknowledge Mrs Maureen Bailey for her work in the development of the concept to final plans for construction in consultation.
These works will impact our site and the pan is to minimise disruption so the works will be in separable portions. Students and parents will see these changes emerge before their eyes in the coming 18 months.
