WPL

In Year 11 and 12, students have the opportunity to participate in Workplace Learning (WPL). Students can complete WPL over the year by attending a real-life work placement one day per week, or in two-week block placements. Australind Senior High School endeavours to have all students placed by the end of Term 1 each year. It is the responsibility of students attending work placement to ensure they do not fall behind in their other school courses.

WPL provides students with learning opportunities to:

  • Make informed decisions
  • Build self-confidence
  • Learn self-management
  • Learn independent skills for post-school
  • Gain an understanding of the working environment
  • Obtain experience and knowledge of the workplace
  • Work with others in a workplace setting

WPL is not a compulsory program in Year 11 and 12. Students will be required to apply for enrolment into Workplace Learning, and must meet minimum requirements in order to be considered eligible for this program. This includes:

  • Attending school regularly and reliably
  • Having a positive attitude
  • Having a satisfactory attendance record
  • Behaving in an appropriate manner at school
  • Being punctual
  • Completing a SmartMove certificate
